Compliance Requirements at a Glance
- Who: Most diesel, hybrid, and alternative-fuel vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR operating in California.
- When: Testing requirements started October 1, 2024. Passing compliance tests are required starting January 1, 2025.
- How Often: Semi-annual testing for most vehicles, annual testing for agricultural vehicles and CA-registered motorhomes, and quarterly testing for OBD-equipped trucks beginning in 2027.
- Where: All test data is reported in CARB’s online CTC-VIS system.
